August 14-15, 2021 — Our August event is an overnight fun filled trip to Tonopah, Nevada with a side trip to the ghost town of Belmont on Saturday August 14th and 15th. We plan to leave Carson City at 7:30am on Saturday morning, which will get us to Tonopah about noon, with a couple of bathroom breaks. We will have lunch at the Tonopah Brewing Company, which has some great BBQ, before heading to the Ghost town of Belmont. We will tour the Courthouse, wander around the town and have a beverage at Dirty Dick's Saloon before heading back to Tonopah, to check in to our hotels. We will meet at the El Marques Mexican restaurant for dinner, at 7pm. We will get up Sunday morning and folks can take advantage of their breakfast offers at their individual hotels, or enjoy the dining at the Mitzpah Hotel Cafe! We will meet at 9am in front of the Clown Motel, and then make the 30-minute drive to Goldfield to visit a little bit of mining history, check out the Stop & Stop Inn, the Art Car Park Gallery, and the International Car Forest (a short dirt road trip). After that folks are free to head for home. You can stop for lunch in Goldfield at the Dinky Diner for a burger before the road home, or grab a bite along the way! Please let Rod Dimmitt know if you are planning to join us for this event, so that we can let the restaurants know how many folks to expect! This should be a fun event, and we will get to see the Belmont Courthouse that several of our members have made donations to for it's restoration!
