Churchill Vineyards and Frey Distillery (picnic lunch)
June 13, 2020 — Rod has talked with the folks at Churchill Vineyards, and they are open on Saturdays, from Noon to 5:00 PM. They are more that willing to host us for tours and wine tasting. We are welcomed to have a picnic. They did warn us that they have been cutting hay and have been having problems with flies and mosquitos. We don't know if that will still be the case this weekend, but we should plan on bringing insect repellant, Citronella candles, etc. for the picnic. You will probably need to bring your own chairs as well so that we can social distance ourselves.
We will meet in Carson City at the Savemart on North Carson St. at 11:15 AM, depart by 11:30, and that will get us to the winery a little past 12:30 PM. If you don't want to try the picnic idea, then you can go directly into the winery for some tasting or a tour of the facilities. They would like to split us up into two groups, with half of us tasting and the other half of us taking their tour, depending on the number of participants we have, then switching us up. Everyone is free to leave on their own when finished.
If you would like to visit Churchill Vineyards next Saturday, just RSVP to Rod (roddimmitt@hotmail.com), so that he can let them know how many people to expect. Rod is planning to bring something simple for a picnic, like cheese and salami, so that we can eat quickly if the flies are an issue.
We understand that it is still a challenge from a COVID-19 standpoint, so make sure you feel comfortable getting out. Bring a face mask, or some face covering, so that you feel most comfortable. Let Rod know if you have any questions!
