Itinerary
Saturday, October 8, 2022:
- Meet at SaveMart parking lot on North Carson Street at 7:30 AM with a planned departure time of 7:45 AM
- Drive to Columbia State Historic Park via Highways 88, 89, and 4 (approximately 3.5 hours with a couple of rest stops)--See map below. High temperatures during the day should be in the mid-70s.
- We will plan to have lunch as soon as we get to Columbia. Lunch will be at the Jack Douglass Saloon, 22718 Main St., Columbia, CA.--See map below
- Tour town, museum, shopping:
- Gold Rush Days takes place the second Saturday of every month from 1:00-4:00 PM. Columbia’s Gold Rush Days is a chance to explore the historic town of Columbia and see it come alive with living history. Throughout town you will discover park docents interpreting what it looked, felt, and sounded like during the California Gold Rush. Historic buildings not normally open to the public will be available for visiting as well as ongoing living history demonstrations.
- Harvest Festival includes a cornucopia of crafts, comestibles, demonstrations of skills, and music and dancing on the shady streets of Columbia State Historic Park, decorated for the harvest season. Nearly fifty vendors, dressed in 1850s attire, will display their handmade arts and crafts for sale, including pottery, jewelry, apparel, home décor, wood furniture, baked goods and many others; and some will demonstrate their skills. Attractions include demonstrations of spinning and weaving by the Mother Lode Weaver & Spinners, face painting, and entertainment by various local groups of musicians and dancers.

- Dinner will be at El Jardin Mexican Restaurant, 22758 Broadway St., Columbia, CA--See map below
- Evening will be on your own.
Folks who do not wish to spend the night in Columbia are welcome to head home at their convenience.
Sunday, October 9, 2022:
- We will meet for breakfast at Mandy's Breakfast House, 22277 Parrott's Ferry, Rd., Sonora, CA at 7:45 AM.--See map below. The address is in Sonora, but it's very close to the park.
- After breakfast we will plan to drive home via Highways 49 and 88 for a change of scenery--See map below.
