Fall Colors Tour to Mammoth
September 18, 2021 — This drive is a Fall Color Tour to Mammoth.  This will get us into some cooler weather and clean air, and we are definitely ready for that!   We will plan to make a few color stops along the way.  We will meet in Carson City on Saturday, September 18th, at 8:00 am and depart at 8:30 am (from the Savemart on North Carson St.).  Our first stop on the way to Mammoth will be a diversion to Virginia Lakes, which is a 6-mile drive from Conway Summit (before we drop down into the Mono Lake Basin), to view some of the high elevation color at more than 9,000 feet.  We will spend about an hour there, and make a stop at the General Store.  From there, we will proceed to the June Lake Loop, taking the north entrance where we will take in some more color and make our way to June Lake Brewing Company for lunch, right around noon.  The Brewing Company serves Hawaiian Soul Food from Ohanas 395 that is available in the brewery's beer garden.  After lunch, we will drive to Mammoth Lakes.  We will make a stop at the Visitor's Center, then proceed on to Horseshoe Lake, which has some unique geology to take in.  After that we will take in Devil's Postpile/Minaret Vista.  As always, you are welcome to stay as long as you would like, or depart on your own after lunch for some self-exploring, hiking etc.  Please let Rod Dimmitt (roddimmitt@hotmail.com) know if you would like to join us!  The sun, the Fall colors and clean air all await us!
