Manzanar/Bristlecone Pine State Park
June 26-27, 2021 — Our June event is an overnighter to Bishop CA, for a trip to tour the Manzanar Japanese Internment camp that is about 45 minutes South of Bishop (Saturday) along with a trip to the Bristlecone Pine National Forest (Sunday). We will travel to Bishop, and have lunch at Mahogony Smoked Meats in Bishop, then motor on to Manzanar. We will come back to check into our hotels on the return, then meet for dinner at 7:00 pm at Astorga's Mexican Restaurant. We will pick a meeting place for Sunday morning before heading to the Visitors Center at the Bristlecone Pine National Forest where we will see some really old trees! There is some pretty serious hiking that you can do there, but our trip will be to the Visitor's Center and folks can stay as long as they would like before heading home.
We plan to meet in Carson City at 7:30 am, and depart at 8:00 am, on Saturday, June 26. If you are planning on joining us for this event, please let Rod Dimmit know, so that he can plan the number of folks that we will have for the meals.
