Reno Rodeo Parade
Date: June 18, 2022
Meet: SaveMart on N. Carson St. in Carson City &
Mini of Reno on S. Virginia St. in Reno
Time: 8:00 AM & 8:45 AM, respectively
Destination: Reno, NV
After celebrating 100 years of Reno Rodeo in 2019 and enduring the unprecedented lockdown of 2020, the 2021 Reno Rodeo Parade promised to surpass all expectations. While the 2021 Reno Rodeo was held, unfortunately the 2021 Reno Rodeo Parade was not. But this year the Reno Rodeo Parade is back and the Sierra Nevada Minis have been invited to participate.
Because a special invitation has been extended to all Frontline Warriors to participate in this year's parade, we have decided to decorate our Minis for the parade using a patriotic theme. Flags, banners, ribbons, bunting, and similar decorations that promote a message of appreciation for the efforts of folks on the front lines to provide for us and to protect us in times of distress.
The parade starts at 10:00 AM, and we plan to meet in Carson City at the SaveMart on North Carson St. at 8:00 AM departing at 8:10 AM, for those of us that live in Carson City, Dayton, Minden or Gardnerville. We will motor to Reno and will meet up with our Reno contingent at the Mini of Reno dealership, departing there around 8:45 AM to caravan to the Parade staging location. We will use the time before the parade starts to decorate the cars. Please bring the decorating materials that you would like to use on your Mini, and to share with other club members.
The parade will begin at 9th Street and Virginia as planned. The Parade will continue south through the Arch to 2nd Street, turning left on 2nd then continuing north on Center Street with the Parade ending at 5th Street and Center Street. Those entrants escorted from the Reno Rodeo grounds will be escorted back by RPD from 6th Street to Valley Road to Sadleir Way and then to The Reno Rodeo grounds.
The Courthouse lot WILL NOT be available for parking, picking up entrants, and equipment storage, as originally planned. Center Street will now be closed to all traffic by 9:00 AM and will reopen after the Parade has completely cleared.
If you would like to join us, please RSVP to Vance Hughey (hugheyv@gmail.com) or Rod Dimmitt (roddimmitt@hotmail.com) so that we can let the parade organizers know how many of us to expect.
